2017 Cresswell Barn Farm campsite – A few memories of a busy year.

It seems a long time ago now but what a year we all had.  The campers, the farm workers and the family.

On the campsite

With a new website and starting to use social media Nigel, our internet man, guided us to one of the busiest summers on the campsite.

Everyone we have spoken to has said how easy the website is and how attractive the pictures make the campsite.  Through our Facebook page we have been able to tell campers how great Cresswell Barn Farm is.  If you want to keep up with what’s happening at the Farm and Campsite, why not like the page and follow us there. https://www.facebook.com/Cresswellbarnfarmcampsite/

Check out the new photographs taken last summer. We have updated the images on the site to show you what you are missing.

Over the winter we have been busy improving some of the pitches. See the new map of the campsite for more details.

We have also been working on our campsite procedures and will be sending out an email with all new booking confirmations.  Look out for your “On arrival” email.  This will have all the information you need to get on your pitch and set up for a great stay at Cresswell Barn Farm Campsite.

Pops has not enjoyed the best of health this last few months. After a fall he has been in and out of hospital getting treatment.  He is back at the house now keeping warm next to the range in the kitchen.  He is planning to act as our receptionist again this year and will be the oldest in Wales at 94.

The new wash up facility was a great success last year with everyone walking over to the wash-up to clean their dishes and pans.  I noticed that most of the people who were doing the washing up were men and they spent a lot of time chatting.  I wonder if they do that at home?

Our new showers have also been a great success and lots of people commented on their availability. Whilst we didn’t have any problems with people waiting before in the busy times there were a few delays.  Now they have gone with three showers and new toilets.  The drying room has been brightened up with lots of information on local places to visit and some new maps of the area.  We have also put several information sheets up for those of you staying at the campsite.

We will continue to stock potatoes, vegetables and eggs in the farm shop in 2018. If you forget anything when you arrive please look in the farm shop, there should be enough to keep you going till the next day when you can pop into Pembroke Dock.

Little did I expect the firepits to go so well… to pardon a pun the went like hot cakes.  We have purchased a few more this year as everyone wanted one and we ran out.  It has helped to preserve the grass as well with the firepit being raised off the ground.

2018 camping season

As you can see we have put our prices in the website for this year and have tried to keep them close to last year as possible.  We have also taken the decision to keep the price the same all through the year as we feel families are hard hit when booking a holiday to see the price go up when the children get off school.  We think that you get a lot with your pitch and hope we are reasonable in our rates.  We try to make it as easy as possible for you to calculate the cost of your stay with us and we think that we are one of the most reasonably priced campsites in the area.

We are now taking bookings for 2018 from Easter weekend through until October… weather permitting.  Either complete the campsite booking form or give us a ring on

On the Farm

Everyone on the farm was very busy last year with the potatoes harvest.  From the planting in spring to the pulling and storing in July,

August and September.  We worked 400 acres in total and although we lost a few acres to wet weather it was pleasing to see a photograph of one of our bags which turned up at Sainsbury’s in Swansea.

In total we picked over 6,000 tonnes of potatoes which were sent to the wholesaler to be distributed to supermarkets around Wales including Sainsburys and Aldi.  Keep an eye out for them turning up in your local supermarket.

A memory and taste of the Pembrokeshire sunshine that made them grow of your holiday in Pembrokeshire. Here is the family photo in the press with the full story.

The summer of 2018 is coming!

Even this early in February we see the distinct lengthening of sunlight hours as we drive from work in the evening and realise it is getting lighter as we travel to our homes.

For you it leads to thoughts of the sun, summer holidays and looking forward to getting away from the stress and speed of daily life with your loved ones to camp in a field.

For us it is the start of another year when we will be preparing the fields. Planting the seed potatoes, looking after them and then when the time is right pulling the potatoes for the early crop then the main crop.  Have a look at this slide show to see some of the process.  Everyone on the farm will be working hard for the next twelve months to bring the great taste of Pembrokeshire to your table.

Book your camping holiday in Cresswell Barn farm today.

We are already taking bookings for the campsite and will be open for campers from April 1st until the end of October weather permitting.
